Mr. Hannon’s and Mr. Naughton’s Fifth Year Business classes attended a Small Business Boot Camp for Entrepreneurs at Breaffy House Hotel on Tuesday December 2nd.
The Boot Camp was organised by the Mayo County Enterprise Board.
Students were divided into groups and had to come up with a business idea, devise a good name for their business and write a business plan. Each group then had to present their idea to a panel of judges.
The iConvert team won first prize (a digital camera for each team member) for their business idea of converting old videos to DVD.
The 600.ie team were in second place. They missed out on first prize by just one point!
Well done to all the teams that took part. There were some excellent business ideas from all the teams. Here is a list of all the team members.
Some photos from the day.
Business Boot camp.
Pros.
good fun
well organised
and a good experience.
Cons
terrible food
groups were too big.
spot on darragh.
Well I think it was a nice day!!!
It was well organised, we had fun and there was a lot to learn.
But the food was terrible, the groups to big and we had to less time to come up with an idea and work it out. And I would have liked a bit more advice about what a businessplan should contain and especally more help with the budget because I (and my group) didn’t really know enough about it…
I think more time would be the most importent thing to improve!!!
Bit I would do it again!!!
overall i thought it was a good day and i would do it again it was well organised and it was a good experience. the only thing that i could fault is the terrible food!!!! and the group size.
Overall I thought it was a good day, but I like my food so the “lunch” put a downer on things;) Still p****d off that we lost to be honest but hey, it was a good experience, well worth going to.
